Who are we?

End Prisonism is a movement dedicated to ending Prisonism and creating a safer, more effective prison system.

What is Prisonism?

Prisonism is the dehumanization of people in prison and the acceptance of that dehumanization as an ordinary or necessary feature of correctional systems.

While its most visible effects are experienced by incarcerated people, Prisonism also affects correctional professionals, families, and the communities to which nearly all incarcerated individuals eventually return.

Why should you care?

Every correctional officer, every tax payer, every family, every victim, and every incarcerated person is affected by the prison system.

The Prisonism Journal

The Prisonism Journal is the official publication of End Prisonism, featuring articles that examine the realities of America's correctional system.
